My journey and a story of God’s healing

I have been married to my husband Scott for 22 years and we have two beautiful teenage daughters. I thought I was relatively healthy, but in August 2016 I had a big surprise during my annual mammogram.

Friends I met at the Hope Lodge where I stayed during radiation treatments May 2017.

I was diagnosed with Stage 2b Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer. There were two lymph nodes positive and one had extra-nodal extensions (meaning it escaped my lymph node and could be anywhere in my body). This meant I would have 4 surgeries, 3 months of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. I immediately started looking for natural and integrative help to get me through. I didn’t want to continue with my status quo – a new, healthier me was what I was looking for!

I completed 5 weeks of radiation in June 2017
In April 2022 I traveled 2600 miles to Mexico for Integrative Treatments

I completely changed everything in my life, but despite all my efforts with quality sleep, healthy eating, exercise, supporting other women with cancer, eliminating toxins in my environment and many other things, the cancer came back in March 2022. I had a very stressful year in 2021 and a major surgery, which tipped the scales enough for cancer to start growing.

I was now diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic breast cancer that went to my liver, ribs, spine, legs, skull and pelvis. By the grace of God I have had no symptoms! If it wasn’t for my Naturopath and her bi-annual labs this would have been caught much later when I experienced symptoms.

Join me on my journey of healing as I travel to a foreign Country to get Integrative Treatments we can’t get in the US! This is where I was completely healed by God on April 29, 2022. A sweet lady I met prayed with me and I felt God’s power shoot across the table to me. While I wait on the scans to reflect my total healing, I will share my experiences and continue to blog about all of the anti-cancer modalities I have learned about.

I had many ups and downs and I had to go places I never wanted to go but He is faithful. Here are just a few tidbits I learned along the way:

  1. When you are faced with things you don’t want to go through you can still find all of the joy and good in them and what they were intended to yield in your life.
  2. Have fun with as many things as you can on the journey – there is laughter in the most peculiar places – like seeing yourself bald! (Snap chat and Face swap have given me hours of laughter and laughter is great medicine)
  3. Your knowledge of God is imperative to getting through the trials of life – get to know Him better. Spend time with Him, get to know His heart. (I have a great Bible study I recommend for anyone who is interested)
  4. If I had to do it all over again I would. The things I learned, the people I met, the experiences I had were all worth it.
  5. Help others – there are always others around you who need to be encouraged, who need to have hope. Reach out to them and help them on their journey. Sometimes they just want someone to talk with to help sort out their feelings and fears.
  6. I learned to face a lot of fears and watched God faithfully walk me through them all.
  7. Our hope is not found in this world and it never will be. Our hope is in heaven and our eternal home.
  8. Take care of your body. Learn why it is important to eat good quality, healthy foods. Find time to exercise.
  9. Question your Doctors. Research your treatments. You make the final decision about what is best for you and your family.
  10. I also learned to experience all of my feelings – there is nothing wrong with admitting and feeling scared, mad, hurt, etc. Face it and then turn your eyes up and let God give you His perspective on it all.
